Born in Sumter, South Carolina, I grew up in a family rooted in music and dance—my great-grandmother sang with the Metropolitan Opera, and my great-uncle helped pioneer the “Big Apple” and Carolina Shag. With both parents as Shag dancers, rhythm came naturally. I began formal training at age three in tap, ballet, and jazz, later adding gymnastics to build strength and precision. In college, I discovered Carolina Shag and quickly advanced from fundamentals to intricate, musical patterns. After graduating from the College of Charleston, I owned a gymnastics center, choreographing routines that blended classical dance, athleticism, and rhythm. A former competitive gymnast, I transitioned into Shag competitions, earning recognition and awards. Today, I continue to train, perform, and teach—honoring my family’s legacy through every step.
